How To Get People To (Actually) Read Your Content

Step by step instructions to Get People To (Actually) Read Your Content How would you ensure that individuals are really perusing your substance? You may invest a great deal of energy ensuring that your substance is changing over well and that your readersâ are sharing it on the web, yet is it really being read? How do you know? With the entirety of the examination and measurements available to us that let us know aboutâ traffic, knowing whether your substance is being perused is regularly a dark gap for advertisers. That is an issue. Why You Need To Make Sure That Your Content Is Being Read It can require some investment to deliver extraordinary substance, regardless of how effective your work process is. As the well-known axiom goes, time rises to cash, and it just bodes well to get as much out of your substance as possible. All things considered, theres no ROI inâ content that individuals arentâ reading. Theres no ROI on content thatâ people arent reading. #ContentMarketingIn expansion to driving traffic, content promoting is additionally about structure your notoriety for being an idea head in your field. You need to set up yourself as somebody your crowd can trust for extraordinary guidance and administration. So as to make this happen,â you need to ensure thatâ you are composing profoundly discernible substance. The other issue you may experience is that content that is being made however not expended is disheartening. There is nothing more disappointing to an author than content that doesnt appear to be going anyplace. Its up to you to ensure that doesnt occur. There are scarcely any things you have to consider about intelligible substance. Consider How Visitors Read Your Website In 2006, ease of use specialist Jakob Nielsen utilized eye following perceptions to see how site guests really read your substance. So, his decision can be summed up as F forâ fast. His examination found that: As perusers, our eyes move unfathomably quick across aâ website. The example we use to see the page isn't the regular left-to-right technique that we learned in school. Or maybe, we regularly read the page in a F-design that puts the most accentuation on the feature and the initial scarcely any passages of text. As perusers look down the page, they will in general underscore the left hand side of the page, skimming the staying content as opposed to readingâ it. Heatmaps from client eyetracking investigations of three sites. The zones where clients looked the most are hued red; the yellow territories show less perspectives, trailed by the least-saw blue zones. Ill defined situations didnt draw in any obsessions. Jakob Nielsen Nielsensâ results feel disappointing, however they are likely precise. At , weâ recently started testing how our own perusers devoured our substance usingâ a free heatmap device from SumoMe. This straightforward module permitted us to createâ heatmaps of our own one of a kind, utilizing our real perusers as the testing. This is the thing that we found out about our own blog utilizing heatmaps: Our perusers are profoundly centered around our substance since we have an exceptionally spotless page. This is acceptable. Our substance followed the genuinely run of the mill F-design like Nielsons discoveries. As perusers descended the page, they would in general spotlight more on the left half of the substance. On certain posts, numerous perusers didn’t make it past perusing 20-30% of our substance. In light of snaps, most sharing occurred at the pages 35%â mark. Featured content, connections, and features drewâ plenty ofâ attention. Just 10-20% of perusers really make it to the base of the post. These discovering line up with the absolute most well known ends and discoveries in regards to content. The more drawn out your substance is, the more outlandish that everyoneâ will read it. That stated, there are likewise numerous advantages ofâ long-structure content so you have to locate the correct parity. You ought to likewise test this out for yourself. Consider Where They Read Your Content What number of individuals read your blog on their telephone or tablet? I wager its more that you think. Examination often shows thatâ consuming email,â searching the web, and utilizing social networksâ are some ofâ theâ most mainstream activitiesâ done on a handheldâ device. A large number of these exercises are bringing about snap throughs that are going to your site on a cell phone. Do you like what they are finding? After a fast look in our Google Analytics account, we found that 15% of our absolute traffic is originating from a cell phone. This is a lot of traffic. This implies you have to have an incredible versatile site or aâ responsive site designâ that naturally scales your site to deal with any screen size. In the event that you are utilizing WordPress, this can be effectively explained with a module like WPTouch or Automattic’s Jetpack pluginâ whichâ offers a free portable module that works very well.â At , weve selected the responsive structure alternative, which gives our perusers theâ best experience conceivable on any gadget. This choice likewise permits us to keep our lead assortment starts at the cutting edge also. Somewhere else that guests may beâ reading your substance is from their RSS peruser or social application, for example, Feedly. This is a valid justification to ensure that your whole article is being remembered for your RSS channel. While sharing just a part of your substance may assist you with getting a couple of additional snaps, it wontâ make your contentâ any moreâ likely to beâ read. Individuals are perusing your substance in RSS perusers like Feedly. Somewhere else that your perusers might be finding your substance is theirâ email inbox. This is particularly evident in the event that you depend on an email advertising project to convey your substance. I started considering this more when one of my associates as of late shared how they took care of email. They have separated it so they just browse their email 3 times each day. Each time, they take into account 10-20 minutes, and they make a move on all email, implying that they either answer to it,  archive it, or make a t0-do thing or assignment around the email content.  This technique is efficient,â but it is additionally terrible news for your substance as it generally rules out perusing and getting a charge out of usefulâ material. This prompts something that I call the setting problem,â which are the perusing issues that emerge from the setting where your perusers are expending your substance. Consider That Visitors Aren’t Just Reading Your Content The downright awful news about your substance is that your perusers have much more going on than simply perusing what you need to state. Whens the last time you just sat unobtrusively perusing on your lounge chair? Most likely not so regularly as youd like. Notwithstanding perusing your substance, your guests areâ alsoâ cooking supper, riding the tram, browsing their email, viewing a film, and messaging their mom in-lawâ †simultaneously! How are you going toâ compete with the entirety of that? 1. Permit Each Sentence To Lead To The Next One of the most essential approaches to keep your perusers consideration is to just guarantee that each sentence you writeâ compelsâ your perusers to proceed onward to the following. For instance, the reason for your feature is to get your perusers to move onto the main sentence. The reason for the subsequent sentence is to get them to proceed onward to the third. You get the thought. Keep your substance convincing right through. 2. Follow The Inverted Pyramid Model When You Write The transformed pyramid is an incredible instrument for organizing your substance such that perusers will acknowledge and devour. This is a strategy that paper columnists have been utilizing for a considerable length of time. It functions admirably in light of the fact that it puts the most relevant data first, basically grasping that about 60% of your perusers will never make it the finish of the article. This technique can likewise function admirably for your blog content. 3. Use Images To Make Your Concepts Simple Pictures are extraordinary approach to separation your substance and extra your clients from an ocean of text. By utilizing pictures to represent the ideas you are expounding on, you additionally make them more clear and connect with. This sort of substance is steady with Nielsens examination and spotlight on searchable content. From numerous points of view, this sort of visual substance is getting more significant than any time in recent memory in content promoting. 4. Concentrate On Easily Scannable Text Notwithstanding pictures, you canâ break up your substance by making text that is anything but difficult to examine and devour. Nielsens study offered a few very valuable tips on this: highlightedâ keywordsâ (hypertext joins fill in as one type of featuring; typeface varieties and shading are others) meaningfulâ sub-headingsâ (not sharp ones) bulletedâ lists one ideaâ per section (clients will skirt any extra thoughts in the event that they are not gotten by the initial not many words in the passage) theâ inverted pyramidâ style, beginning with the end a large portion of the word countâ (or not exactly) customary composition In this graph, Nielsen gives us an extraordinary case of how unique composing strategies can be utilized to make text progressively discernible. Source Jakob Nielson Cautioning: Youre Not Going To Read This, But You May Have Already Shared It We are presently well past the 30% purpose of this post, which implies that the greater part of you are done perusing this article. For those of you who are, heres another jaw-dropper for you to consider: late examination has shownâ that there is no relationship between's substance that has been shared through web-based social networking and substance that has been perused.

Parker

PARKER : Penning worldwide methodology Ankita Jain Hrishikesh V Nilotpal Sinha Abhinav Sharma Great Lakes Institute of Management November 18, 2011 Caesar had died from the universe of men, had not his blade been protected by a pen. Dynamic In this investigation, we take a gander at two procedures received by Parker Pen. The ? rst is an exceptionally effective system of item di? erentiation through mechanical advancement. The second is a fruitless execution of globalization technique. 1 A concise history of Parker Pen The Parker Pen Company was conceived in 1888 when George Sta? rd Parker attempted to fix some wellspring pens that were spilling and in the process started to produce his own pens. After six years in 1894, Parker Pen won the patent of the †Lucky Curve† feed, which was professed to move overabundance ink once again into the pen body when the pen was not being used. This innovation remained the di? erentiating factor for Parker pens until the appearance of the Duofold during the 1930s. 1 2 The forty years time frame running from 1920s to the 1960s, in the pre ballpoint pen time, was the brilliant time of Parker Pen’s rule when it reliably positioned either number one or number two in overall composing instrument sales. In 1931 Parker Pen made 1 2 Key words and expressions. Parker Pen, wellspring pen, ball-point pen. This examination was led for fulfillment of the gathering venture for Strategy Execution. 1 the Quink (snappy drying ink) which dispensed with the requirement for smudging and prompted the improvement of the most broadly utilized pen in history Parker 51 which created over $400 million in deals. A Parker pen represented quality, renown, convention, immovability and quality featured by the way that Parker pens were the pen of decision to sign significant records in history, for example, the World War II armistices.Parker Pen extended its business and by 1980s the organization had reached out up to 154 nations. The organi zation received globalization procedure to build up advertise nearness. Anyway the execution of this procedure was ineffective; the directors neglected to make legitimate promoting techniques that would have caused them to contend in universal markets with reasonable items from different pieces of the world. In 1993 Parker Pen was obtained by the Gillette Company, which previously possessed the PaperMate brand, a standout amongst other selling expendable ballpoints. In 2000, Gillette sold the composing instruments division to Newell Rubbermaid, whose own Stationery Division, Sanford, turned into the biggest on the planet claiming such brand names as Rotring, Sharpie, Reynolds just as Parker, PaperMate, Waterman and Liquid Paper. As of late, Parker Pen has surrendered both the passage level market just as the conventional retail outlets in North America and moved into up-scale extravagance retailers. 2 Innovation as a di? erentiation procedure Throughout its history, Parker Pen has ut ilized mechanical advancement as a system to di? erentiate itself from the competition. The organization has been a pioneer in look into on composing instruments and presented a few progressive items . In this area, we take a gander at a portion of the famous items from Parker Pens which have driven both the organization just as the pen advertise. (The present arrangement of Parker Pen’s items can be found in Ref. [1]) 2. 1 Duofold †1921 In 1921 the organization presented the Parker Duofold (Ref. [2]) wellspring pen. It was a best in class pen for its time and Parker Pen situated the Duofold in the head section and estimated it extravagantly $7. 00, proportional to about $85 in 2011.In 1926 the Duofold turned into the ? rst pen on the planet to have an ensured life of †forever†. It was a moment achievement. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle utilized one to compose the endeavors of Sherlock Holmes. General Douglas MacArthur marked the report finishing World War II in the 2 Paci? c with his multi year old Duofold (Ref. [3]). By the mid 1930s the Duofolds configuration had become dated in the USA yet it stayed well known in Europe until the 1960s. In 1988, Parker propelled the Duofold Centennial arrangement of pens. The cutting edge Duofold is a key piece of Parker Pens item portfolio. . 2 Quink †1928 In 1928, following three years of research and a venture of $68,000, Parker Pen thought of Quink (a portmanteau word from ’quick’ and ’ink’; otherwise called Double Quink and Parker 51 Ink) that would dispense with the requirement for smudging. The accomplishment of Quink lay in the way that it had various valuable highlights: it opposed water, it didn't obstruct, it had the ideal nature of ink ? ow, it opposed trim, it was non-destructive, it didn't leave stores, it didn't blur, and, in particular, it was fast drying. However, the new ink was unequivocally basic and contained isopropyl liquor, a dissolvable not recently u tilized in inks, which regularly harmed the pen barrels of that time which were produced utilizing pyralin. This issue in the long run prompted the advancement of the world’s best pen, the Parker 51 out of 1941. In 1941, when the Parker 51 was propelled, Double Quink was renamed and repackaged as †Parker 51 ink† as an advertising activity. Parker Pen’s ink deals turned into the way to keeping up the company’s genius? tability. This income age model is utilized by the current PC printer organizations, whose primary wellspring of income originates from the offer of printer cartridges. Further upgrades were made to Parker Pen inks with its progressive †Super Chrome† ink. This ink was showcased in 1947 after an exploration period that kept going 17 years and cost over $200,000. This was the ? rst fundamental ink improvement over the most recent three centuries. Today, over seventy years after the fact, Quink is as yet the world’s greate st selling pen ink. 2. 3 Vacumatic †1933 The Parker Vacumatic (Ref. 4]) wellspring pen was presented in 1933, as a supplanting the Duofold as Parker’s first class item. The Vacumatic highlighted another ? lling system which flaunted an a lot higher ink limit than the Duofold. The pen remained Parkers best in class item until the dispatch of the Parker 51 of every 1941. The US creation proceeded through 1948, and until 1953 in Canada. 3 2. 4 Parker 51 †1941 In 1941 Parker Pen presented the Parker 51 (Ref. [5]) which seemingly is the best pen ever both as far as notoriety and deals. General Eisenhower marked the triumph in Europe in 1944.The cutting edge plan of the Parker 51 proclaimed as †Ten Years Ahead† of now is the right time, a progressive pen, with its hooded, rounded nib and multi-? nned gatherer, all intended to work related to the pen’s exclusive ink, permitting the nib to remain wet and set out an even line with either the ultra-quick dr ying ink or increasingly customary inks. It was promoted as the ’The Worlds Most Wanted Pen’ which made enormous interest which took Parker quite a long while to ful? l. By 1970, the Parker 51 created over $400 million in deals, higher than that produced by any single pen ever. 2. 5Jotter †1954 In the 1940, the world had seen a ? erce fight for piece of the overall industry battled between the conventional wellspring pens and the new ballpoint pens. In spite of some underlying achievement, ballpoint pens kicked the bucket a buyer passing and by 1951, the wellspring pen turned into the pen of decision of the world. In 1954, Parker Pens presented its ? rst ballpoint pen, the Jotter which composed ? ve times longer than the best ballpoint pens accessible in the market, the Eversharp and the Reynolds ballpoint pens. It was the presentation of Jotter that restored the ballpoint pen advertise. Parker sold 3. 5 million Jotters at $2. 5 to $8. 75 in under one year. In 195 7, Parker Pen presented the T-ball Jotter with tungsten carbide finished metal roller which to this date stays an industry standard. The popular styling of the Parker Duofold was resuscitated in 1972 as a ball pen and inside the following decade, ballpoint pens overwhelmed wellspring pen as the number decision of pen on the planet. 3 Rise of rivalry †1980s After about an era of overwhelming the ? ne composing instrument advertise, Parker Pen went into a time of emergency during the 1980s and the explanation behind this was the organization was driven by an inappropriate strategy.Parker was confronting rivalry from three fronts. To start with, the Japanese were mass promoting less expensive and dispensable pens and had caught a huge part of the low end showcase in USA and Europe and were step by step eating into Parker Pen’s piece of the pie. Second, similar to the Japanese, American brands, for example, Paper Mate, Bic, Pilot, and Pentel had made signi? cance nearness in the low end fragment and progressively dissolving and were pulling ceaselessly parker Pen’s client. Third, in the high 4 end fragment which had been Parker Pens principle target section, rivalry had become ? ercer with presumed German brands, for example, Montblanc and A.T. Cross creation progress in the European markets. 4 Globalization system †1982 Parker Pen confronted two differentiating difficulties. On one side the debilitated dollar created high remote income since about 80% of the company’s deals were abroad, the expert? ts got from those deals spoke to even large genius? ts when meant nearby money. In any case, on the opposite side, this over reliance on remote deals presented the organization to outside contenders, particularly the reasonable brands from Japan which utilized low valuing as a methodology to contend in the worldwide market.Parker Pen understood that a serious system dependent on item di? erentiation through mechanical development was not su? cient to defeat the test from contenders. In 1982, James R. Peterson turned into the CEO of Parker Pen,having went along with it from Reynolds. He was given the duty of rethinking the brand. Peterson chose to dispatch a worldwide advertising effort to focus on all market fragments. A result of the choice to receive globalization was normalization. Everything including items just as market

An Influence Of World War 1 - Free Essay Example

World war 1 was controversial because it was an important war that took place in our history. Many things did happen during this time that had a positive and negative effect. This war took place for 4 long years. This will include the life before the war,how it started, life during the war,the political leaders,non-combatants,generals,spies,soldiers,the strategies and intentions, and how they lived after, and what positive and negative effects did it have? This period of time was a transition. The U.S had most of the power, that was called the great power. 1910, came around and they took the stand to lead through the industrial power. Other countries had some control, but the U.S was the most powerful. They did have cars but they were not as advanced as they are now, they were slow. They mostly used a carriage and a horse to get around. People would find out news through papers, and radios. Women were still discouraged. People looked at them as if they were more frail than men. Women would stay home and take care of the inside of the house and av efood ready for the men. If they did have children than the women would take care of them. They did not get the chance to go and do the job like men. If the women did get a job outside the house it would take place at a textiles industry, thats where they would design clothing, yarn, and etc. When they did get the chance to work outside their home their income was still not as high as men. Men got paid the most, but they also still had responsibilities. Their job would to work on the outside of the home. They also worked on the farms, factories, and any job that had to do with heavy duty. They made sure they supplied the materials their family needed. They were the ones that mostly paid the bills around the house because they made more money. It was easier for men to get jobs because they would say the are stronger and harder workers than women. Before the war the women did a protest. The protest was a group of women that were known as the Suffragettes. This group went and protested that women should be equal to men, and have their right to go and vote. This protest was a group of women that were formed in 1897.That is how the life would be before the war. Now the war is beginning on July 28,1914. The great war, as it was known to a generation aware that another, great war would soon follow, began relatively inconspicuous in August 1914 when forces of the Austro-Hungarian empire invaded the tiny Balkan nation of Serbia.(page 584) After that other nations jumped in and started a big fight. Little things added to the world war 1. The war did start after an assassination. Before the assassination there was things that added up to a war. This goes back to the year of 1839. In 1839, Britain had a saying that they would protect Belgium this was during the treaty of london. Than that saying was going and years went by and a war was going on in 1871 that was called the Franko prussian war. Germany goes and starts things up by taking seats away from france, they were called alsace and lorraine. Germany Takes control over france and goes and bugs Austria Hungary. This starts a dual alliance, han france starts things up with Russia. This keeps going on for years. Then thats when an Bosnian serb named Gavrilo princep was in charge of Archduke Franz Ferdinand death. Him and his wife were killed. They were taking a trip to Bosnia and Austria province. The assassination cause the world war 1, other things triggered it but this was the main cause. After the assassination Germany and Austria goes along and invades Serbia. While Russia jumps in and they go and take over Germany and Austria. France and Russia dont have beef so GErmany will go and invade France because Russia invaded them. When Germany went to invade France they went through Belgium and ibaded them. Then that is when Belgiums got mad at the Britains because they said they would protect them and they didnt, so they started to go to war. World war 1 lasted for 4 long year and it went back and forth. That is how the war started, now lets see how life was during the war. Life during the war was hard. Families like women and children were away from their husband and or dad for four years, and wouldnt know if they would see them again. While the men that had ro leave to go fight and to leave their wife and children hoping they come back alive.Women were not able to go and fight, it was only men. Men would either voluntary or told to go and fight. While this happened many jobs were opening because men had to go fight. From this it gave women a chance to work on farms and or factories. They needed people and their only choice was women. Women started to work at jobs that men had and would take care of their children. The world needed help because they lost so many men, so the children stepped up. During the war the children would help the women. They would dig holes for the food that needed to be planted. Carry the water to places it needed to be including wood. If they had younger siblings they would watch them for their mom. They would get blankets and fun things for the soldiers. Animals during this time were helping to. Horses helped carry weapon for the war and bring soldiers to certain places. Dogs would help by protecting places, and carrying first aid stuff and if someone needed to mail a message the dogs would deliver it. Soldiers did not have much shelter, they would have to hide places. In 1914 trenches were discovered it was a ditch that was very narrow and soldiers would go there for protection and to rest, to them it was like a shelter. The trenches were not that great though.,they were dirty, did not smell great. The bad smell came from not showering, the dead bodies that were around, and from the toilets and or people going to the bathroom anywhere. Also a bunch of different people would go in the trenches that diseases started to form. Not all soldiers liked going in trenches because they were not to keep them safe, most of the time when a soldier went in they are scared. Its like they are living in a scary place, they worry all the time. Sometimes there would be a distance between trenches, and it would be called a no mans land. Any soldier was scared to walk in that space and or to switch trenches because they might get attacked. When the soldiers did go in the trenches they would get covered in mud and sometimes it went higher.Sometimes the mud went so high and and it was very thick so when the soldier goes in the mud it would be hard to get out and they would get stuck and never be seen again. In the trenches there was rats found. The rats would keep coming because they would spot out the food, and go in the mud. In the war there was many different generals leaders. Every country had a leader that they would follow, the leader would demand the soldiers to do things. Douglas Haig, was a commander and a general for Britain. He was born in Edinburgh thats located in Scotland. He was the one that was in charge of the corps when Britain first went to war with Germany. He was looked at very well because the soldiers he was in charge of fought very fiesty and well. He never gave up on his army and kept fighting. Than another one was Marshal Philippe Petain, he was considered a saver for Verdun. He was agenral that would go and have verduns back and kept the french army together. A commander in chief that goes and force with Europe. He was in charge and told the soldiers what to do. He was known under the name of John J. Pershing. Ataturk had to do the role of keeping the enemies away. He was a commander that would be for the seventh army. He also was known for being the person that started and was in ch arge of the national movement that took place during the war that was for independence. A major success happened and he went higher to run the german army he did this with Hindenburg. Even though he was successful running the army they did have downfalls, the year 1918 his army was not that great they went down hill and were not fighting great. Alfred Von Tirpitz was an admiral thats for Germany. He was in charge to be prepared for the pre war and prepare the navy for germany. He had a submarine that did not help him much and made him leave in 1916. Next there was political leaders that were during the world war 1. Kaiser Wilhelm led germany to fight and to get more power because he thinks they should have more power. He was the one that took some blame for Germany influencing of them taking charge of the war. Next this person did not think America should go to war, that they should stay out of it. Later on 1917 came around and things started to frustrate him, After that in that year that when he finally wanted to go to war and they did against Germany. This was Woodrow Wilson. A minister of Uk that was in 1916 organized the britains. He tried fixing things and improving stuff to make them become more successful. He had an idea that he hoped made them have an advantage it was called a war cabinet and contained five people that were key in it. V.lenin was also a leader in world war 1. He was part of the Russian revolution. He was the person that successfully brought peace he had the russian revolution agree with the mean peace treaty that was with germany and they let the problem go. Many men went out to fight for their country. These men sacrificed their life for their country, knowing they have a fifty-fifty chance of not coming back to their family. Many soldiers did not return home he was killed the last year of the war which is 1918. He was one of the top soldiers, and was a hard fighter and never gave up. His name was Baron Manfred Von Richthofen. A next soldier that also lost his life the last year of the war was Wilfred Owen.He lost his life going to a trench. His death was in action and he volunteered to go and fight. A soldier T.E Lawrence was an officer too, he was part of the British. He helped form arabs they would fight against Ottoman empire. Some countries had strategies they planned out, they use different weapons that are more advanced and would help them out. Germany started off fast by doing different things, they had an idea that no one else did. In the trenches they would dig to their enemy spot n use an explosive to blow it up. Next both enemies would try to dig to the enemies spot, but it would not work out all the time. When this happened they started to fight. They would not have any strong weapons so they used their digging materials and would beat up the other opponent. The beginning of the war neither country had powerful weapons, but as days went on fighting new things were brought into the war. This included tanks, machine guns, mortars, deadly gasses, a flamethrower and more. The tanks were useful but not always. The tanks could get stuck easily because the mud would soften and it would not move so it doesnt benefit the team. Than machine guns were very powerful in the beginning of 1914. Not every country had a machine gun so whoever did made damage to the enemies. As the war went on by the end in 1918 every country and person had one so it was not as powerful. The gasses would get used to throw in an enemies trench. They would throw it when they know people are in their trenches. When it was windy the country that threw glasses had to wear masks so they would not kill themselves. Lastly another strategy was flamethrowers. Flamethrowers was invented from the Germans. There strategy for this was to throw it and it catch land on fire so the enemies could not pass it. I believe this war had both positive and negative effects. Some examples of these positive effects is, people received better understanding of how to use air power, better technology and more people getting to travel to foreign countries. Positive effects war tends to have is they speed up technological effects and developments. This was definitely the case for WW1. Examples of this may be, the invention of tanks, the effect of improving the engine. Which then concluded to the everyday use of the automobile. Although, the war had great effects on technological equipment; it also had a positive effect for women. The war helped women recieve opportunities such as, giving women jobs that were previously only considered by men and giving women the vote in 1919. The war also helped women in their social outlook forever. Yes WW1, had many great positive effects on the people. However, it also came with negative effects as well. One big negative effect was the suffering and deaths of the war. Approximately, 17 million people died and 20 million were injured. Many people also died because of the diseases the war caused, which led to an even greater number of deaths. Another negative effect was the war actually brought no peace to europe or the world itself. Many casualties and bad effects happened because of the war, such as, the eruption of many wars. Wars such as the russian civil war and the effect of WW1 in the Versailles Treaty, played a role in causing the start of WW2. Other major casualties were many dangerous weapons were created. Bibliography https://www.history.com/topics/world-war-i/world-war-i-history This source was very useful. This helped me on many things and finding out facts and the problems in the war. It also talked about how the war was started and who fought against who. https://www.biographyonline.net/military/wwi/people-first-world-war.html This source helped me find important people. It also told me what they were and what country they had helped. This would tell me how the people not just the soldiers. I used this when I talked about the soldiers, generals, political leaders, and more. https://www.history.com/news/life-in-the-trenches-of-world-war-i This is where I got my details for how life was during the war, and how the soldiers lived in their trench. Trenches were not amazing and enjoyable as it may seem like. Trenches did not protect the soldiers, the enemies still found out ways to destroy or hurt them.

Tamales History, Regional Differences, and Family...

Tamales: History, Regional Differences, and Family Cultural Interpretations Introduction: Tradition has been said to mirror a way of life. Observation has concluded that participants in tradition â€Å"actively construct as well as reflect culture and community† (Sacks 275). For most people in the 21st century, tradition only reveals itself during special times or certain seasons. For others it is simply a way of life. The foodways of Mexicans and Native Americans are of particular interest in this study because of the food that grew from necessity and is maintained as sacred or reserved for only special occasions. The tamale is one such food. Significantly changed and altered throughout history it has remained a†¦show more content†¦Discussions during tamale making concerned the proper construction of the tamale itself. Masa not too thick, filling not too scarce, and wrapping assembled just right. Conversation that enveloped the atmosphere included everything from local gossip and men, to jobs and kids. Much of what I learned about the meaning of life and womanhood came from these long days of constructing not only tamales, but of family, gender, and a sense of heritage that would become a passion. In this essay, I will discuss the history of tamales; their origin and reason for existence. I will review the traditional tamale and its construction as well as introduce the ever-growing market of new and improved types of tamales. I will entwine different perspectives and narratives of personal encounters with tamales, their production, and how it has come to affect their personal lives in relation to race, gender and family or community roles. Finally I will discuss the differences and similarities in tamales in my native state of New Mexico, and in my new home state of Colorado, and I will introduce tamales from and around the world in Spanish speaking countries, including a focus on such ethnicities as Mexican and Native Americans. I hope to prove that tamales are more than just good food; they belong to a people who work diligently for the sake of their family and their heritage.

Organizations use social media tools to provide knowledge and encourage customers to take part on several initiatives (Ngai, Tao Moon, 2015). Effective use of social media platforms has allowed organizations to increase popularity in the global market. However, it is also important for the organizations to identify effective strategies at appropriate time. Otherwise, it can create major adverse impact on the overall image of the organization, as it happens in the case Qantans Airlines. Selection of ineffective timing for promotional events has damaged the overall image of Qantas. The study will focus on identifying three prime problems of Qantas along with possible recommendations. Three main problems: Qantas has experienced numerous challenges in performing all their activities associated with the business procedure. Firstly, Qantas have faced many challenges associated with the effective use of social media activities. For instance, Qantas one tweet on social media has created racist issues. However, Qantas have posted the picture with a different objective of encouraging Wallabies players. Still, the ineffective execution of the social media marketing strategy has created adverse impact on the overall image of the organization. Moreover, CEO of Qantas has also tweeted some aggressive message to the unions, which has affected the overall image of the union. It illustrated the fact that Qantas has not focused too much on enhancing the effectiveness of social media marketing strategies. Secondly, Qantas have selected wrong time for social media competition on Twitter, as majority of the customers are dissatisfied with the provided quality of services. Themanagement has not focused on conducting market research to visualize the possibility of negative reaction within the contest. Thirdly, Qantas has failed to realize the significance of monitoring effective feedback of the customers on Twitter and other social media platforms. As a result, even after hijacking of the completion #QantasLuxury, it has encouraged the posting of the people continuously. Hence, it has affected the overall image of the organization in a major way. Recommendation: Future actions of Qantas for building a positive public perception of the brand: In order to develop strong positive public perception about the organization, management of Qantas need to assure the safety level of each passenger. Themanagement has to ensure all the passengers can receive best possible experiences during all travel with the organization for consistent period of time. It will allow Qantas to regain the trust and faith of the Australian and global people. Provided quality of the services is up most important for any organization for achieving sustainable growth in the market. Moreover, themanagement of Qantas will have to focus on utilizing the strong brand name of the organization to regain the trust level of all the potential customers. The management of Qantas needs to focus on assessing all the activities associated with the social media marketing for avoiding any type of issues comprehensively. Management also has to be extremely careful at the time of posting any internal challenges in Twitter or other social media platforms. Qantas will also have to focus on utilizing aggressive marketing strategies for providing all the details about the service quality of the organization. It will also have to ensure that the service quality of the organization keep up to the level of promises made in different marketing activities. It will allow Qantas to develop strong public perception about the brand in near future. Important factors for Qantas at the time of using social media: As per the article by Hudson et al. (2015), effective utilization of all the social media platforms is crucial for achieving success in the market. For that reason, Qantas will also have to focus on developing effective social media marketing strategy that can create positive impact on the overall image of the organization. The outcome of Twitter competition highlighted that Qantas has not focused too much on monitoring the activities of the people on social media platform (Ashley Tuten, 2015). As a result, Qantas keep on praising the posting on Twitter even when majority of the posts were against the image of the organization. For that reason, Qantas need to focus on developing separate social media marketing team, which will monitor all the trends on social media in a comprehensive manner. It will allow Qantas to understand the present perception of the people about the organization effectively (Dahnil et al., 2014). For instance, appropriate monitoring of previous comments on Twi tter and other social media platform will provide an idea to the management regarding the wrong time of conducting any competition (Hudson et al., 2014). Secondly, Qantas need to provide people the opportunity to have direct communication with the representatives regarding any issues or challenges. It will allow Qantas to resolve all the problems or queries of the customers in a much more effective manner. Course of action for Olivia Wirth to recommend to Qantas management: 1.Timing November 24, 2011 2.Audience All the potential customers of Qantas present in Australia and other countries across the globe 3.Sender The message needs to be sent directly from CEO, Alan Joyce 4.Key Message The message will focus on following points: The message needs to begin with the an apology for several case of engine breakdown It needs to illustrate the purpose of conducting Twitter competition #QantasLuxury Thereafter, it needs to include different actions taken by the organization for avoiding any such incidents in future The message needs to end with effective illustration of mission and vision statement of Qantas 5.Desired Outcome It is expected that the message will minimize the anger or dissatisfaction level of the customers by some level. It will induce people to feel that the cases of engine failure is mere an accident, which will not be repeated near future. 6.Medium Television and social media platforms 7.Materials A document signed by senior executive 8.Frequency The message needs to send once. However, Qantas will have to ensure appropriate reply of all the queries of the people afterwards. Conclusion: The in-depth examination of Qantas case has emphasized the fact that organizations need to be extremely careful at the time of conducting any event in the social media platform. In fact, the organization will have to conduct appropriate market research technique in order to understand the expected trend about a particular incident. Otherwise, it can damage the overall image of the organization in a significant manner. References: Ashley, C., Tuten, T. (2015). The Benefits of Paper Recycling

The Benefits of Paper Recycling Paper recycling has been around for a long time. Actually, when you think about it, paper has been a recycled product from the very beginning. For the first 1,800 years or so that paper existed, it was always made from discarded materials. What Are the Most Significant Benefits of Paper Recycling? Recycling paper conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and keeps landfill space free for other types of trash that cant be recycled. Recycling one ton of paper can save 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 380 gallons of oil, 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space and 4,000 kilowatts of energy - enough to power the average U.S. home for six months - and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by one metric ton of carbon equivalent (MTCE). Who Invented Paper? A Chinese official named Tsai Lun was the first person to make what we would consider paper. In 105 AD, at Lei-Yang, China, Tsai Lun stirred together a combination of rags, used fishing nets, hemp and grass to make the first real paper the world had ever seen. Before Tsai Lun invented paper, people wrote on papyrus, a natural reed used by ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans to create the paper-like material from which paper derives its name. Those first sheets of paper Tsai Lun made were pretty rough, but over the next few centuries, as papermaking spread throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the process improved and so did the quality of the paper produced. When Did Paper Recycling Begin? Papermaking and producing paper from recycled materials came to the United States simultaneously in 1690. William Rittenhouse learned to make paper in Germany and founded Americas first paper mill on Monoshone Creek near Germantown, which is now Philadelphia. Rittenhouse made his paper from discarded rags of cotton and linen. It wasnt until the 1800s that people in the United States started making paper from trees and wood fiber. On April 28, 1800, an English papermaker named Matthias Koops was granted the first patent for paper recycling - English patent no. 2392, titled Extracting Ink from Paper and Converting such Paper into Pulp. In his patent application, Koops described his process as, An invention made by me of extracting printing and writing ink from printed and written paper, and converting the paper from which the ink is extracted into pulp, and making thereof paper fit for writing, printing, and other purposes. In 1801, Koops opened a mill in England that was the first in the world to produce paper from material other than cotton and linen rags - specifically from recycled paper. Two years later, the Koops mill declared bankruptcy and closed, but Koops patented paper-recycling process was later used by paper mills all over the world. Municipal paper recycling started in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1874, as part of the nations first curbside recycling program. And in 1896, the first recycling center opened in New York City. From those early efforts, paper recycling has continued to grow until, today, more paper is recycled (if measured by weight) than all of the glass, plastic, and aluminum combined. How Much Paper Is Recycled Every Year? In 2014, 65.4 percent of the paper used in the United States was recovered for recycling, for a total of 51 million tons. Thats a 90 percent increase in the recovery rate since 1990, according to the American Forest Paper Association. Approximately 80 percent of U.S. paper mills use some recovered paper fiber to produce new paper and paperboard products. How Many Times Can the Same Paper Be Recycled? Paper recycling does have limits. Every time paper is recycled, the fiber becomes shorter, weaker and more brittle. In general, paper can be recycled up to seven times before it must be discarded. Focus on Society Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Focus on Society - Essay Example The point that needs to be taken into consideration is that no other art form is so fervently associated with economics and business as films. So, by necessity a film has to retain a delicate balance between expressing social realities so that the viewers may relate to it, while at the same time being artistically creative and involving, thereby addressing the commercial constraints and expectations (Curran, 1998). Cinema is an art form with a very large scope, canvass and budget. Yet, it is also a medium endowed with a greater responsibility towards society as compared to other art forms. So films do get influenced by the social context in which they are created, though the vivid blend of imagination, reality, glamour, intensity and conflict presented in them never fails to directly or indirectly influence the viewers in varying proportions (Hayward, 2000). It will be really relevant to talk about the 1994 comedy-drama Forrest Gump. The film, revolving around the life of a simpleton from Alabama, Forrest Gump, in a way presents the important social, popular and historical issues and events of the 20th century America. Yet, the film did not portray the American history with the simplicity of a school textbook.

Symbolism Used in James Joyces Dubliners Essay Example for Free

Symbolism Used in James Joyces Dubliners Essay Symbolism is a powerful tool used by people every day to force people to look past the obvious and find the deeper meaning. Symbolism is used by authors, musicians, priests, and many others. James Joyce, a well-known Irish author, uses symbolism repeatedly throughout his collection of short stories published in 1916. In these stories, titled Dubliners, Joyce uses symbolism not only to enhance the stories, but to also show the hidden, underlying message of each story without coming out and saying it directly. Joyce’s stories are centered on the problems of Dublin and through his use of symbolism Joyce is able to focus attention on what problem each story is addressing. James Joyce, author of Dubliners, uses symbolism effectively to enhance the stories. The first story in Dubliners deals with the problems of the Catholic Church. â€Å"The Sisters† is about a priest, Father Flynn, who goes crazy because of the incredible stress placed on him by the rule-centered church. A note publicly announcing the priest’s death read â€Å"July 1st, 1895 The Rev. James Flynn (Formerly of S. Catherine’s Church, Meath Street), aged sixty-five years. R. I. P. † (Joyce 4). Joyce associates Father Flynn with S. Catherine’s Church because St. Catherine was torn apart physically and Father Flynn was torn apart mentally, because of the rules and strict guidelines he was expected to uphold. Making this connection enhances the story because it shows the reader that if the priest can’t handle the rules placed on him by the church, how was an average person supposed to. The date is also symbolic because July 1st is The Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Christ. The breaking of the chalice during Mass was the cause of his death. Fr. Flynn’s sister said â€Å"It was that chalice he broke. That was the beginning of it†¦That affected his mind† (9-10). At his wake the priest his holding the chalice in his hands, which symbolized the evil church was the cause of this man’s death and reiterating the main theme of the story. â€Å"An Encounter† is the next story and its major theme is appearance versus reality, meaning things are not always what they seem. The story is about a few boy’s decision to play hooky from school in order to have an adventure. The boys meet an old man who is nice on the outside, but is actually very evil. Just before the boys come across the old man on their adventure â€Å"the sun went in behind some clouds†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (16). The sunny, innocent day turns dark symbolizing that something bad is about to happen. Joyce uses the weather in many of his stories to foreshadow events that are about to happen. This technique adds to the stories because it helps the reader know that something is about to happen and as a result they pay closer attention to what it is that Joyce is referring to. When the boys meet the old man he was â€Å"dressed in a suit of greenish-black†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (16) and had a â€Å"pair of bottle-green eyes† (19). Green is the color of Ireland and Joyce associates it with evil. By making a connection between the color of Ireland and the evil old pedophile, Joyce is really associating the evilness with all of Ireland, which is the major theme of Dubliners. Joyce is very good at giving hints about certain characters. For example, when the boys were talking with the pedophile they noticed â€Å"he had great gaps in his mouth between his yellow teeth† (17) and being gap toothed symbolized someone who was sexually promiscuous. Techniques used by Joyce, changing the weather and the man being gap-toothed, all enhance the stories because they provide hidden information that brings to light the themes of each story. In the next story, â€Å"Araby†, the major theme is infatuation versus love. Joyce begins the story by informing his readers that â€Å"North Richmond Street, being blind† (21) was the street the boy’s school was on. The term ‘blind’ is referring to the street, meaning it was a dead-end street, but it also has a different, deeper meaning. Joyce uses the word to also describe the boy’s feelings towards a girl and to his dead-end relationship with the girl he is infatuated with. From the opening sentence Joyce gives his readers and idea of what to expect from his stories. Examining the term gives a deeper meaning that enhances the story. At the boy’s home, â€Å"The wild garden behind the house contained a central apple tree and a†¦rusty bicycle pump† (21). The apple-tree symbolizes Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, self-deception followed by self-knowledge. The bicycle pump symbolizes the kid’s pumped up, full of hot air, fascination with the girl and then being deflated. The apple tree and bicycle pump are clues to the outcome of the story. The boy also discovers three important and symbolic books in his house. The Abbot is about the worship of a special lady, The Devout Communicant is about worship and The Memoirs of Vidocq is a detective story that usually ends with the truth being revealed. All three stories are hinting at what will happen to the boy at the end of the story. The boy goes to Araby, a market of goods from all over the world, to buy the girl a gift in order to prove his love to her, but when he finally gets there the market’s closing in ten minutes. The boy â€Å"heard a voice call from one end of the gallery that the light was out† (27). Joyce frequently uses light to symbolize an epiphany or realization. In this case, the boy realizes the girl does not really have feelings for him as he had convinced himself to believe. The light provides the reader with the moment the boy finally realizes he was â€Å"a creature driven and derided by vanity† (28). The light is the changing from self-deception to self-knowledge. â€Å"Eveline† is the story of a girl who is torn between leaving to start a new life and staying in Dublin with her father. In her home was a â€Å"broken harmonium† (30), which is used by Joyce to symbolize there is no harmony in Eveline’s home because of her drunken, abusive father. A photograph of a priest â€Å"hung on the wall above the broken harmonium† (30). Whenever Eveline would ask her father about him he used to say, â€Å"He is in Melbourne now† (30). The priest is symbolic because he was able to do what Eveline can’t, escape Ireland. While waiting for the man she is leaving with Eveline â€Å"could hear a street organ playing†¦remind her of the promise to her mother, her promise to keep the home together as long as she could† (30-31). The organ playing reminds Eveline of her mother and she does not want â€Å"that life of commonplace sacrifices closing in final craziness† (31). She knows that she must escape with Frank, but when it comes time to get on the boat â€Å"she gripped both hands at the iron railing† (34). The symbolism of Eveline holding on the metal bars paints a clear picture of someone in jail; trapped in Ireland. Next is the story, titled â€Å"Two Gallants†, of two arrogant men who have no respect for women and only use them as a means to their happiness. Joyce uses symbolism in the story to talk about the poor treatment of Ireland and also the poor treatment of these girls by the two men, Corley and Lenehan. Before the two men met up with the innocent girl the weather changed from a nice day to cloudy, symbolic of something bad that is about to take place. At one point during the story when the men were walking down the road â€Å"a harpist stood in the roadway, playing to a little ring of listeners†¦His harp too, heedless that her coverings had fallen about her knees, seemed weary alike of the eyes of strangers and of her masters hands† (48). The harp is symbol associated by the people of Ireland with their country. The term ‘strangers’ was a code word used by the Irish for the British. The quote is making reference to the rape of the harp by saying it was â€Å"unaware that her coverings had fallen about her knees† (48). Joyce is talking about the rape of Ireland by the British, but he is also describing the girls being played, like the harp, by Corley and Lenehan. The symbolism connected with the harp helps uncover Joyce’s feelings towards Britain and the many men of Ireland who act as Corley and Lenehan do. Without the symbolism of the harp we would have never known about Joyce’s feelings towards these important topics. The title, â€Å"Two Gallants†, is also important. The term gallant means to be brave, courteous, and chivalrous, but in the story Corley and Lenehan don’t act as two gallants should. Joyce does this on purpose because most men of Dublin act as Corley and Lenehan do, and Joyce wants us to know that these two men, and the men of Dublin, did not treat women with respect, as one should. â€Å"Ivy Day In the Committee Room† deals with Irish politics. Ivy is an evergreen and symbolizes loyalty to Ireland and loyalty to the ideas of Parnell. The poem read by Joe Henchy at the end of the story, titled â€Å"The Death of Parnell† (131), makes the connection to what the title is referring to. In the poem, Parnell is described as Ireland’s â€Å"Uncrowned King† (131). It goes on to read â€Å"Shame on the coward caitiff hands/ That smote their Lord of with a kiss/ Betrayed him to the rabble-rout/ Of fawning priests – no friends of his† (132). That part of the poem is talking about how Parnell was thrown out by his own people. By saying the people â€Å"smote their Lord with a kiss† (132), the poem is making a clear connection between the people of Ireland and Judas, the betrayer of Jesus. The title, â€Å"Ivy Day In the Committee Room†, is describing the loyalty to Ireland, and Parnell, by a few remaining people. The title gives a clue to what the story is about, but it’s not until the end when Joe Henchy reads his poem that we know exactly what the title is referring to. Both the title and the poem take the short story from being good to great. The symbolism used in the title is reveled at the end and again shows Joyce’s feelings toward the Irish, in this case the government. The poem enhances the story because its not until the poem is read that we become aware of what the title is actually referring to. Clay† is a sad story about a woman, Maria, who is old and unattractive. It is Hallows Eve and everyone is participating in games. One of the games played involves being blindfolded and led up to a table with four saucers. The saucer’s contained a prayer book, a ring, water, or clay and symbolized something that was to happen in the future. The prayer book meant a life of the church, a ring symbolized marriage, water represented a voyage or journey and clay was symbolic of death. When it was Maria’s turn, she symbolically picked clay. Joyce writes, â€Å"She felt a soft wet substance with her fingers and was surprised that nobody spoke or took off her bandage† (101). The clay symbolizes death and so â€Å"Maria understood that it was wrong that time and so she had to do it over again: and this time she got the prayer book† (101). Because the clay symbolized death and the prayer book symbolized a life in the church, Maria was to live the remaining years of her life with nobody and eventually die alone. The title enhances the story because at first it is unclear what clay actually means, but at the end of the story it all comes together. At the end of the story Maria is singing â€Å"I Dreamt that I Dwelt, and when she came to the second verse she sang again† (102) the first verse. Maria unconsciously skipping the second verse of the song symbolizes her life of loneliness and shows that she has given up on dreaming about love. Maria has accepted her fate and no longer believes that maybe someday she will find love. In conclusion, Dubliners was written by James Joyce to show the problems with Dublin. Joyce uses symbolism to illuminate the themes of the story. Throughout the stories the symbolism helps explain and reinforce the themes of each story.

Sports Injury :: essays research papers

Alcohol use and behaviors in women long-distance race participants reporting a history of bulimia and/ or anorexia nervosa   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  women long-distance racers were more likely to report a past history of an eating disorder than the control population and that reported in the general population. We cannot say that running was responsible for the development of the eating disorder. It may be that running can prevent or control eating disorders. High achieving, disciplined, organized women with a history of an eating disorder may be attracted to long-distance running. The method of defining a case was based simply on the respondent replying affirmatively to the questions â€Å"Do you have a history or bulimia/† and/or â€Å"Do you have a history of anorexia nervosa?† This method of case definition is based on a history of such a disorder and does not necessarily reflect an active problem.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Researchers found that women reporting a past history of bulimia and a history of problem alcohol behavior as noted by other investigators and were more likely to report a biologic family member with a history of problem drinking. Even with their history of problem alcohol behavior, the runners reporting a history of bulimia did not differ from other runners or the control population in their drinking patterns in a recent two-week period. Total amount of alcohol consumed, occasions of drinking and occasions of binge drinking were not significantly different among any of the women. Researchers were unable to ascertain if running helped control alcohol consumption in a person prone to problem alcohol consumption in a person prone to problem alcohol behavior or if the decreased alcohol consumption predated the onset of running.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Those women reporting a past history of a mixed type of eating disorder, perhaps reflecting severity, ran more days of the week and more miles per week than other runners. These women also had the lowest weight and desired weight of any group. The drive for thinness is a hallmark of anorexia but anorexics with bulimia generally are more prone to use vomiting and/or laxatives for weight control than intense exercise or severe food restriction. This subtype of anorexia is also more likely to be prone of problems with alcohol. This was not true for the women in this study.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A limitation of the study is the small numbers in the eating disorder groups. With a larger series of cases, the small differences in alcohol consumption could be significant.

Eminem “Lose yourself” Essay

After analyzing ‘Lose Yourself’ by Eminem, I’ve understood Eminem’s emotion in this song. He raps about taking a chance at success and being able to take it without anyone stopping him. He also refers to the movie 8 mile, where he failed his first chance and knew that his second opportunity he had to succeed. Analyzing the lyrics, with all the expression he has on him he’s starting to lose his desire and momentum of being an artist. At one point he says â€Å"A normal life is boring, but super stardom’s close to post mortem† which means that having a normal life is boring, but being a superstar is almost being dead. Eminem feels like being a superstar is a lot of pressure and the expectation levels are very high because you need to keep producing content that is bigger and better which he said in this sentence â€Å"It only grows harder, only grows hotter†. He’s been through tough times in his career and tries his best to gain respect from other rappers in the industry. My final thoughts on this analysis would be that this song is about his tough times and what he goes through in his career and he truly does a great job expressing it in ‘Lose Yourself’. Everyone in life goes through tough situations and I can reflect on this when it comes to school grades. As I explained in the following paragraph â€Å"It only grows harder, only grows hotter† means you have to produce better content for better results is something I can reflect on. It’s never easy to get good marks; you always need to put in motivation and dedication to succeed. You need to put in better work and effort to get the results you want which is why Eminem’s verse in this song reflects me. Overall though, I must say this is one of my favorite songs of all time and it was very interesting to analyze Eminem’s lyrics.

Economics The German Economy - 1473 Words

Economics The German economy is the largest in Europe and worldwide Germany has the fifth largest economy (â€Å"World fact book†, n.d.). It is clear that the German economy holds a key position in the world marketplace. Gross domestic product (GDP) growth is an important consideration for foreign investment as it speaks to the overall health of an economy. GDP growth can be attributed to spending and investments both on and from imports and exports (â€Å"What is GDP†, 2005). In 2014 the reported GDP growth rate in Germany was 1.4%, up .9 % from the prior year (â€Å"World fact book† n.d.). The Eurozone was deeply affected by a recession stemming from the US and made worse by poor economic conditions in Greece and Spain, among other countries in†¦show more content†¦In 2014 trade as share of GDP was 70.8 percent, down less than three percent from the two years prior (â€Å"Merchandise trade†, n.d.). This is one of those areas in which only time will tell whether Germany will continue to prosper and be the financial backbone of the Eurozone. GDP per capita is also an important indicator of economic health. GDP per capita takes the total output of a country and divides it by the number of people in a countries population; this indicated the buying power of individuals. GDP per capita in Germany as reported for 2014 was slightly over 47,000 USD (â€Å"Countries with the largest†, n.d.). Looking at GDP per capita when compared to other countries in the Eurozone Germany is not fairing so well. Luxembourg leads the world wide GDP per capita and that of the Eurozone with a high rate of 116,750 USD (â€Å"Countries with the largest†, n.d.). Worldwide Germany ranks 16th in the Eurozone, Germany was beat out by Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands in GDP per capita (â€Å"Countries with the largest†, n.d.). While the GDP per capita rate in Germany is stronger than many other countries it is not competitive with other countries which have economies comparable in size to Germany nor e conomies centrally located in the Eurozone. A low inflation rate averaging .91 percent for 2014 should help to increase purchases in Germany. This is because consumers can get more for the
